COLOURFUL GERMANY
Original title: DIESES BUNTE DEUTSCHLAND – ÜBER DEN MUT NACH DER FLUCHT
90 mins. | Documentary | ARD | SWR | RBB | DOKfilm | 2017
This is a spectactularly unexcited documentary on the subject of migration. Four humans, one year on their bumpy way into a new life in Germany: a Muslim woman from Chechnya is hoping for a safe future in rural Brandenburg, a 17-years-old Afghan in Saxony finds himself between xenophobia and his dream to become a carpenter, a young woman from Syria on Swabian Alb takes her first steps to engineering studies and a Syrian businessman in Berlin is on his quest to get his children out of his worn-torn home country.
In other words: There are terrorists, rapists and other felons among the refugees. This film is about the other 99,9 %.
For this fascinating long-term project, I served as head director, working together with Martina Treuter, Nina Mair, Robert Jahn, Jean Boué and Jan Schäfer.
