WITH THE MUSKET INTO THE WEEKEND – BATTLE OF THE NATIONS 1813
Original title: MIT DER MUSKETE INS WOCHENENDE – ZEITREISE VÖLKERSCHLACHT 1813
4 x 25 min | MDR | OPENhouse media | 2013
Co-director: Judith Schwyter | Full crew list
Following a group of Saxonians who strive to re-enact the Battle of the Nations as realisticly as possible – 200 years after the real thing.
In real life they are craftsmen, lawyers, cooks and high school students. But every weekend they turn into Saxonian grenadiers from the Napoleonic wars. The shoes handmade, the uniforms faithfully tailored, the marching luggage as it was 200 years ago. Glasses, mobile phones and wristwatches are taboo. Everything should be as real as possible. Only the ammunition in their muskets are blanks.
What attracts these men and women from the Erzgebirge mountains to the historical war game? Are they disguised militarists? Historically obsessed nerds? Or is it the pure fascination in diving into another world and time?
